History Major Requirements
The BA in History requires a total of 45 History credits, and the BA Core, which includes foreign language study.
Introductory History
Complete the following (3) courses:
HSTU201 and two 100-level introductory courses:
HSTU103,110,120,130,140,150,170, 180, or 185.
History Seminar
Complete the following (1) course:
Course List: HSTU301
Historical Writing
Complete the following (1) one-credit course:
Course List: HSTU302
HSTU302 must be taken with HSTU301
HSTU302 fulfills Middler Year Writing Requirement.
Grade of C or better required
History Cluster
Choose (4) courses above the introductory 100-level:
Course List: HSTU202 or above, where at least two courses must be HSTU303 or above.
Every History major must define a History cluster
by the first semester of the junior year of study
History Electives
A total of (3) History electives must be taken in the HSTU303-HSTU699 range. These courses may count towards the History Cluster.
Capstone or Project
Complete at least (1) of the following courses:
Course List: HSTU701,903,904,911, or 912
Pre-1800 Course
At least one of the above courses must concentrate on a
period of history before 1800.

Experiential Education Requirement
HSTU301 fulfills the University's Experiential Education requirement.
