After 25 years at Connecticut College, 2 at the University of Illinois, and 6 at the University of California, Berkeley, Tom Havens came to Northeastern in 1999 as a professor and chair of the Department of History.
He teaches courses on Japanese culture and is currently studying the history of marathons and long-distance running in Japan and its colonies.
